Frances Cornelia Betts Butler

“Three years as a Cadet Nurse . . . required long hospital hours and six-hour classes each day, but these tired and sleepless days reaped great rewards at the end of the three years.” Frances Cornelia Betts Butler spent thirty-six years as a nurse in government service, at Freedmen’s Hospital, the National Institute of Health, and finally at D.C. General Hospital.
