Sarah Booker Ford (b. 1926) Lynchburg Nurse

Sarah Booker Ford graduated from Dunbar High School, attended Bennett College for a year, and graduated from the Hampton Training School for Nurses at Dixie Hospital in 1948. That same year she was licensed as a registered nurse. She began her career working in Dr. R. Walter Johnson’s office on Fifth Street. After seventeen years there, she became a school nurse for the Lynchburg public schools, where she served until her retirement in 1988.
