Dr. John Andrew Jackson (1888 – 1957) Lynchburg and Charlottesville Dentist

Dr. John Andrew “Jack” Jackson, educated at Howard School of Dentistry, operated an office in Charlottesville as well as in Lynchburg. He was the first Secretary-Treasurer of the National Dental Association, organized early in the twentieth century to serve black dentists all over the country.

John Andrew Jackson had two sons, Ellard N. “Punjab” Jackson (d. 1980) and George Franklin Jackson, Sr. Both became dentists, as did his grandson, George F. Jackson, Jr. Ellard Jackson practiced in Lynchburg from 1945 until 1947.
