In December 2002, the Legacy Museum was awarded a $100,000 challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The funds from the challenge grant will go into the Museum’s endowment fund, which is held by the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust. Income from the endowment will be used to pay a professional curator to research and plan the Museum’s exhibits.
In order to receive the full amount, the Museum must raise an equal sum by July 2005. Thanks to major contributions from R.R. Donnelly, the A.H. Easley Trust, the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust, and generous donations from many of you who receive the newsletter, good progress toward that goal has been made. However, we must still raise $34,000.
Every donation, be it for $5 or $5,000, brings us closer to our goal. To contribute to the challenge grant, please write a check to the Legacy Museum and put NEH Challenge on the memo line.
